In recent decades the intensification of agricultural production has reinforced the need for development of soil analysis and plant tissue analysis. The chemical analysis of soil samples give valuable information on the quantities of available nutrients in the soil. While, the plant tissues is determined by the nutritional status of the plant during the sampling time and the required interventions are determined to correct any problems and improve the cultivation.

The soil sample analysis, nutrients, plant tissues and natural fertilizers include determination on information provided extensively from fertilizers: Nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K). Depending upon the nature of the samples are further analyzed for the determination of secondary components, such as calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg) and sulfur (S). In drier regions, often identified trace elements such as iron (Fe), manganese (Mn), copper (Cu) and boron (B), as well as their absence is common in calcareous soils. Such surfaces can also be characterized by high levels of sodium (Na) and boron (B), which can be toxic to crops.
